You don't need a ticket to welcome 2027 in New York. Here are the free and low-cost ways to celebrate, each labeled with how confirmed it is for this year.

    The world's best-known New Year's Eve countdown is free to attend. No tickets are needed for the public viewing areas, which fill on a first-come, first-served basis.

    • No portable restrooms and no food vendors inside viewing areas
    • If you leave your spot, you should not expect to get back in

  • Eat before you go. Free public events rarely have food options nearby.

  • Use the subway, which runs 24 hours, and check the MTA for service changes on the night.
  • Pick one plan. Moving between locations late on Dec 31 is slow and unpredictable.
